Hello!
A few days ago our task was to write and publish a Free Verse poem about anything. A Free verse poem is "an open form of poetry." I found this task pretty easy, because I had already thought of what I wanted to write about. Next time i'll try and write about something different.
Hello!
Today our task was to write and publish a Cinquain poem about an animal. A Cinquain poem is "a five line stanza." I found this task pretty easy, because I had already thought of the animal I wanted to write a cinquain poem about. Next time I'll try and write about another animal.
Today our task was to write and publish a Haiku about nature. I found this task tricky, it was hard to find the right amount of syllables. Next time I'll try and make my Haiku more descriptive.
On Mondays, we've been working on our own scratch games. Our task was to create a game on scratch. My game is called "jumping game" and the aim is to jump over as much eggs as you can before falling and breaking one. I haven't made much progress with the game but I'm still coding to figure out how to make eggs crack once you land on them! Once my game is finished i'll share a link on scratch if you want to play it!
Hello! Today in class we created our own characters and wrote part of the story (part of the story meaning orientation) Here's my work -
Sheltered by extensive mountains a dulcet breeze sways through a quaint, picturesque town, illuminated by warmth, radiating from the glistening sun. Aletheia, Fawn, wavy hair gliding in the wind, overshadowing her heavenly face. Emerald eyes glimmering with optimism and sending contentment to others around her aura. Short, disheveled hair colored a winsome golden sits atop of a fair, slender profile. Deep purple eyes reflecting a kind positivity onto others. Her clothing very softly colored. A cheeky, impatient and adventurous young woman with the mindset of an innocent child, Amira.
Hello! Today in class we made a DLO about the fractions we learnt, Seniors were split into three different classes regarding what we needed to learn, I learnt about proper and improper fractions. I found this task hard, because I'm not the best at maths but eventually I kind of learnt it.
Here is my learning.
Opinion and Facts
Recently in my class we have been learning about opinion and facts so we knew the difference for our upcoming report. The difference between someones opinion and facts are - Opinions are something that you feel for instance "I like polar bears" that's your opinion. A fact is something that is always known to be proved true.
This is my two facts and my two opinions.
Today in class, we were learning to do factual writing in our own words, last week I published writing about wolverines now I did seals.
Here's my factual writing
Seals
There are only about 10,000 New Zealand sea lions left in New Zealand. The largest seal in the world is a southern elephant seal, some elephant seals are as heavy as a small truck weighing up to 3,700 kgs. The elephant seal moves very slowly because they’re very big and it wastes a lot of their energy.
Seals are found in every ocean and have streamlined bodies so they can swim under water. They have long whiskers to help them find prey by sensing movement in the waters, and four powerful flippers. Seals have a layer of skin underneath their skin called blubber. Blubber keeps them warm in cold water and also helps them float in the rough ocean.
Some types of seals can breathe underwater for one hour, because they can hold a lot of oxygen in their blood which helps them hold their breath for longer. Although seals don’t just live in water, they can still go on land.
The Seals diet consists of mainly fish and squid. Once a year female seals called cows, go out to sea to give birth. When a mother seal goes to hunt out in the sea, she leaves her pup behind. When the mother seal returns she calls to her pup by barking loud. Each mother has their own special voice and smell, so does each pup.
Today in class, we were learning to do factual writing in our own words!
Here's my factual writing
Wolverines
Wolverines eat some vegetarian sustenance's like plants and berries in the summer season, but this does not make up the majority of their diet, wolverines are tenacious predators with the taste of meat. They sometimes attempt to slaughter animals twice their size like elk, deer and caribou, but they can easily slaughter animals smaller such as rabbits and rodents. Individual wolverines may travel fifteen miles in search of food.
Female wolverines shelter, in the snow or similar places to give birth to two or three kits. Kits reproductive age is two years old. Male wolverines mark their territory with scent but share them with several female wolverines, Male wolverines are believed to be polygamous.
Today in class we did Easter activities, me and my friend Shanaya chose to do a breakout. This breakout had multiple codes we had to enter for instance colour locks, word locks and digit locks. From doing this breakout I realised that you need resilience, so that you can persevere and carry on. We gave up multiple times but persevered and carried on. I Found this breakout hard but challenging I hope to do more breakouts like this.
Art
Hello, In week 3 we started a piece of art. To make the art we started with a photo of ourselves. Then we used watercolour to paint the images half with cold colours and half with warm colours. Following that we painted our backgrounds aswell and then we used newspaper to fill in our hair. After that we used coloured magazine pieces to cover up our shirts. We then used indian ink to outline all the details. Then we used buttons, letter beads and sequins to add any wanted accesories to or art. After that we founds the letters of our names from coloured magazines and stuck them onto squares of coloured paper so we could stick them to the top of our art. Lastly our teacher stuck our art onto black and white sheets of paper and then they were done.
Our task for the past two weeks was to write our own narrative writing. Narrative writing is just writing that is characterised by a main character in a setting who engages with a problem or event in a significant way. My writing is just about a princess called Akira who wishes to be a knight but cannot because she is a woman.
Alynthia
(Set in medieval times)Alynthia was a contented and joyful kingdom, filled with lots of lovely people. The kingdom of Alynthia has snowy white brick walls and a cyan tiled roof.
Alynthia was known for its ravishing and remarkable crops that were apparently the finest in the land. Akira was a princess in the Alynthia kingdom, she had short fawn brown hair and emerald green eyes, Akira always assumed that's what her mother looked like because everyone always said to her “You look just like your mother!”. Akira always wished to be normal so that she could be a knight and wield a lustrous sword, but that wasn’t possible because of others' expectations. “Akira get down here now!” Merissa shrieked.
“I’m on my way Merissa, just be patient.” Akira shouted.
“Don’t tell me to be patient, I was already waiting five minutes for you!” Merissa bellowed. Akira slipped into her silky adorned gown, and made her way down the castle stairs. “This is your last chance Akira!” Merissa yelled.
“I’m already down here if you couldn’t see.” Akira sassed as she lifted her gown and wandered towards Merissa.
“It’s about time Akira, you need some time outside, you can’t stay in that musty room forever” Merissa declared.
“Okay then, I guess” Akira muttered as she walked towards the garden.
The emerald green grass twirled in the wind. A shiny flicker of light flashed in the sun as Akira strolled through the garden admiring the scenery. “What's that?” Akira noticed a cyan sword laying in the flower patch. Akira picked up the sword as it glistened through the sunlight, “Is this a dream?” she mumbled under her breath.
“I see you’ve found my sword” A stranger mentioned.
“Ah!” Akira flung the sword towards the stranger in fear it tumbled and tumbled and tumbled until it finally hit the grass floor. “Who are you and how did you get in the castle walls?”
“I’m Aiden, I just climbed over the walls using a vine, it looked like an interesting place to explore” Aiden babbled. Aiden had chestnut brown fluffy hair and a cape wrapped around his torso flowing down to his detailed boots.
“You can’t just climb over castle walls, that's dangerous and you could get in serious trouble!” exclaimed Akira.
Aiden and Akira strolled around talking about how lovely the castle was and about each other. “Wait so you’re a princess?” Gawked Aiden.
“Yeah..” Sighed Akira.
“Well if you want to learn how to be a knight I could teach you as I am a knight”
Akira's eyes sparkled “yes, yes!” Akira cheered.
Aiden took Akira to a meadow clearing in the castle gardens. Akira and Aiden battled for what felt like hours, as the sun slowly faded away. “Akira what in the world are you doing!” Merissa yelled “Is that a sword Akira! You’re a woman let alone a princess, you cannot wield a sword.” Merissa glared at the stranger.
“Yes I can, what am I doing now Merissa!” Snapped Akira.
Merissa’s eyes went dark, flooded with darkness as she yelled for the guards. Guards slowly hurried towards Aiden, as they grabbed his wrist and pulled him towards the castle dungeon with force. “Aiden!” Akira yelled, bursting into tears.
“Come on Akira, let's head back to your chambers now” Merissa smiled as they slowly made their way towards Akira’s chambers. The only things that Akira was left with when Aiden was taken was his knowledge of sword fighting and his sword. “I can’t just leave him to be locked up forever” Akira thought to herself letting thoughts slowly get to her. Akira pounced off of her bed, grabbing Aiden’s sword and darting towards the dungeon.Akira didn’t notice how terrible it was in the dungeon, the roof had cobwebs, the floor was covered in moss and the walls were dripping water. ”What's the princess doing in here” Guard one muttered.
“It doesn’t matter we don’t get paid enough for this job anyway” Guard two sighed. All the cells were empty, this was the last cell was he in this cell?...
“Aiden!” Akira yelled. “I’ll be back. I just need to get a key.” Golden keys were hanging on a hook near the guards, “Now how do I get those” muttered Akira. Akira pulled out Aidens trusty sword and ran towards the keys. “Sir I’d like you to hand over the keys,” Akira threatened. “Or else I’m gonna have to take them from you” The guards went silent staring at Akira with wide eyes. “Okay miss here just take them!” Guard two threw the keys at her. Akira sprinted back towards the cell that Aiden was held captive in and shoved the key in the lock rushing to open the cell before more guards were alerted. It took minutes the old rusty cell door wouldn’t give in, until it finally did. “Thank you Akira” Aiden smiled as they ran for the dungeon exit, fighting all the guards that came in their way. “Hurry, let's escape to the forest. I know a little cottage that’s nearby” Aiden yelled.
Aiden tugged on the vine to make sure it was strong enough before they climbed up it luckily it was. Akira and Aiden clambered up the vines to see an escape into the real world. Akira didn’t feel like a bird trapped in a cage anymore, instead she had finally flown free. Akira’s eyes filled with surprise. There were mountains, valleys, meadows and even trees all around the castle. Akira's dress got stuck on the white brick wall and she had to tear her dress a bit to get it unstuck. Finally she was free and could become a knight.
Dialogue is a writing style used in writing conversations, here is my example of dialogue.
“If I die this is your fault!” Lorelie sassed, “I shouldn’t have agreed to this.”
“Well you did now stop complaining, you aren’t gonna die!” Ren wailed.
“Why did I have to agree to this!” Lorelie weeped.
“We’re near the ground, don't worry,” Ren yelled.
“Finally I can get out of this uncomfortable gear” Lorelie mumbled.
Leadership
The leadership program consists of fun activities such as waka, biking and professional services (this program is held at the fire brigade on Tuesdays). Our class has done all of the activities in the 3 days we have been there. The leadership program really tested my confidence and my leadership overall, some of the activities I struggled with and the others I didn't. I hope to see this program next year in 2021.

Aphrodite Kingdom
The Aphrodite Kingdom stretched far and wide throughout the valley, many travelers passed through the Aphrodite Kingdom it was always full of people, yet somehow it still felt lonely… Alienora woke up in a hurry breathing heavily, Gwen (the maid) approached her “oh my! Princess are you okay?” - Gwen jumped to her side. “Don’t worry Gwen it was just a nightmare” she looked at Gwen and smiled at her ヾ(@^▽^@)ノ. Alienora mumbled under her breath “although it felt so real”..
“What was that princess?” Gwen looked confused.
“Don’t worry about it” Alienora began to climb off her bed to put her attire on.*GWEN!* Someone from the other side of the castle called her name. Gwen strolled off in a rush to the person that was calling her. Her mother came wandering in. “Ah, awake early I see” She beamed at Alienora.
“Morning mother” Alienora smiled.
Alienora’s mother started opening the curtains and the window. The glistening sun shone inside her room. “Anyway I’ll leave you alone to carry on with the day. She started strolling away.
Today for free writing I used my imagination to come up with a story. Our task was to do choice writing and I came up with this. I found this task pretty easy. Next time I would try and finish it.
